Goodbye MPC

January 28th, 2010

I am going to miss this set up, even though you can clearly see that I have no monitors. Last night I sold my MPC2000XL. Even though people tell me that I’m a few steps away from being a producer, I just don’t think I’m cut out to be one. Yes, I dig for records, chop samples, loop samples, and sequence samples, but I don’t think I could ever rap over my own beats. I’m impatient, a perfectionist, and I still like the feeling of getting new beats from my producers. I sold the MPC to Todd Sykes and I know he will definitely get more use out of it than I did since I never made a beat on it haha. I will stick to what I think I’m good at. Goodbye MPC2000XL, you will be missed, but I will come visit you every now and then. |
January 23d Artifakt Show At Jazzbones

January 25th, 2010

I would like to thank everyone for coming out on Saturday night. It has been awhile since I have performed in my hometown and nothing feels better than to be back on stage in front of a packed house. I love the town for all of the love and support that you have given me throughout the years. I can’t say enough about how much I appreciate it. This was the first time that I’ve seen HellaDope live and they were amazing. I was happy that they performed Rainwater because I’ve been bumpin’ that joint non stop since they released it at the end of ‘09. Tay Sean and I also spoke about hopefully working together sometime in the near future. Those guys are very talented. What can I say about D. Black and the Sportin’ Life camp? I have been lucky enough to get to know these guys over the past year and they are some of my favorite people in the NW hip hop scene. Devon is always keeping me in mind about shows and always shows me love when I see him. Fatal is my dude! And yes, Fatal is going to be on my album. Spaceman is that guy and is always clowning on me about the 253 VS. 206 basketball game. This is the second show that D. Black and I have done together and I hope to do more in the future because we always have a lot of fun. This guy did God Like on Saturday! I think I put on a pretty good show and I try to set a certain vibe for the night, but after every show I am always looking back thinking I could have done better. I don’t think I will ever be at a comfortable place with this hip hop shit where I think I’m doing everything right. Regardless of how much thought I put into my work, I still had so much fun. It is always good bringing Logics and Fatal Lucciauno to the stage to do Boss’ Life because that song gets the crowd live. I closed the set with my song Two Five Three and I could not end the show any other way. I love doing that song in Tacoma. DJ Semaj held me down on the tables as always and as a matter of fact, he also held it down for D. Black. That is my boy and he is a hard working DJ/producer. I was happy to see so many faces in the house that night. There are way too many people to list, but here are photos from Saturday. These photos are a little bigger than the usual size that I use for my blog because it is early in the morning, I’m tired, and I do not feel like resizing all of them. On top of that, when I change the layout for this site, the pictures will be bigger anyways. Photos by Erik Soderquist.

This Saturday! January 23rd

Artifakt Presents It is about to go down this Saturday. This is probably the best bill that I’ve been apart of and for everyone that remembers my last Jazzbones show, I suggest that you get there at a decent time if you want to make it in because it was way past capacity last time. There will also be art displayed and DJ Reign and DJ Hanibal will be holding down the music for the night. I hope to see everyone there. I have some surprises in store for this show.

Todd Sykes & EvergreenOne – 90’s Shit

January 18th, 2010
|
Here is the very first music video from Todd Sykes & EvergreenOne. This song is going to be on their upcoming album Milk On Wax which should be dropping in the next few months. These are friends of mine from Tacoma, they are really dope, cool as fuck, and I am proud of these guys. The video was directed and edited by Wolfman (Erik Soderquist). |
Korean BBQ

January 16th, 2010

Last night I was craving some Korean BBQ, so Ron Burgundy, Erik Soderquist, D, and I decided to hit up The Honey Pig on South Tacoma Way. We discussed music, the upcoming show, the shop, future projects, and future plans. Fun Fact : I am 1/4 Korean. I am not lying to you.
